Around 1995, I had the idea that I wanted to record my version of Rubber Soul - not the actual Beatle songs; but rather songs inspired by each of the songs from that album. So, over the following year, I essentially took each song and then wrote something emulating it. In some cases, the difference is essentially in name only; others are only loosely similar. Together, the goal was to recreate the magic of one of my favorite albums. I never quite finished it, and some of the simlarities were too much, or else didn't quite mesh with the vision, so the project was shelved. Finding the tracks among the demo cassettes I was archiving, I decided I may as well piece it back together and let it be heard, for better or for worse. It's no Rubber Soul, to be sure; but it is my Elastic Essence.
